South African endurance racer grabs first podium of the year and launches new wheels for Nürburgring 24 hours in the same week.

South African Endurance Racer Jordan Pepper, along with IRON LYNX teammates Franck Perera and Mirko Bortolotti,  secured his first podium of the IMSA Sportscar Championship season at the Sebring 12 Hours in Florida, with the #19 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo 2 coming through third in a frenetic GTD Pro battle which lasted the entirety of the race.

“A P3 in this year’s 12 hours of Sebring honestly felt more like a win to us than it did just a podium. I am extremely proud to finally get this podium for IRON LYNX Lamborghini, Squadra Corsa in America in the IMSA Racing Competition and GTD Pro.”

“We didn’t have the ultimate package to win on pure pace and speed so we had to be perfect and execute in every way possible, both on track and in the pits. And I think we did that superbly. In such a competitive field that’s what at least gave us the edge to get onto the podium. By far one of my best races in a long time. I’m super proud to have played a pivotal role in us ending up on the podium, ” concluded Pepper.

Following the race, Pepper travelled to Austria to join his fellow South African and ABT Sportsline teammate, Kelvin van der Linde, to launch their weapon for this year’s Nürburgring 24 hours: the Red Bull ABT Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2. Pepper and van der Linde will be joined in the car by Italian Marco Mapelli when they take on the Nordschleife from 30 May to 2 June 2024.

Hans-Jürgen Abt, CEO of the ABT Group remarked: “The 24-hour race is the biggest sporting event in Germany and it’s great that we can also compete there in the Red Bull colours. Our goal is clear: after last year’s strong performance with our inaugural entry, we want to fight for overall victory this year.”

With such a strong start to the year, the season is shaping up to be an exciting one for Jordan Pepper.
